Her character and education led her to the discovery of Christianity through a Christian servant, who stood out for her virtue. Licinius, by order of the priests of his religion, ordered his daughter to be killed by horses' kicks. But when by a miracle one of them left and killed Licinius, Irene resurrected him, as a result of which her parents and a large number of people present embraced Christianity. Many tried to kill Irene, but the Lord made her invulnerable to all kinds of torture. Her fame led her to the king of Persia, Savorius, who ordered her beheading. But when Irene was resurrected and the king saw her alive, he too embraced Christianity. She died peacefully and our Church honors her memory on May 5.
