Handmade image, crafted on canvas on wood using the method of Byzantine iconography, with a gold background. Saint Nikolaos Saint Nicholas was the only son of a rich, religious family in Lycia. After the death of his parents he distributed all his wealth to the poor. He became known for his charity work, despite his efforts to hide it. During his ascetic life the voice of God commanded him to live with men, because only in this way would His name be glorified. He was elected archbishop of Myron of Lycia, where he served his flock like a true shepherd. During the reign of Diocletian and Maximilian, he taught the people the power of the Lord. He saved three people from death, twice. Kind, honest, fair, he was a real Angel for people. He left the world in 343 AD. on December 6. The original image of the 15th c. is located in the Holy Monastery of Gonia, Kissamos, Crete.
