Saint Spiridon Protector of the poor, father of orphans, teacher of sinners. Saint Spyridon was born in 270 m. H. in Cyprus from an affluent family of shepherds, a profession that he himself followed despite his education. Simple, kind, full of love for his neighbor, married and had a daughter, Peace. When his wife died he dedicated himself to the teaching of God’s Word. He was ordained Priest and from this position, with his virtue and faith he performed many miracles. At the first ecumenical session in Nice, Bithynia, he zealously defended the Orthodox Faith. He slept on December 12, 350 m. H. His relic from Cyprus was transferred in 648 AD. in Constantinople and later from his descendants in Corfu, where his tent is ceremonial four times a year.
