Saint Luke Syrian in origin with Greek nationality, Osios Luke, also known as Evangelist Luke, was a professional physician and an excellent painter. The first images of the Virgin Mary and the Apostles Peter and Paul have been crafted by him. The apostle Paul taught him the Christian faith and showed him the way of Christian life and since then, he devoted himself completely to the spread of Christianity by preaching the Gospel. He toured many places, Italy, France, Greece, and elsewhere to his deep old age indoctrination, as the Apostle Paul did for him. He wrote the third Gospel in order of the New Testament and the Acts of the Apostles. He left earthly life at the age of 80, according to some peacefully, against others with martyrdom, about 84 C.E. His remains were transferred to Constantinople, to the church of the Holy Apostles. His memory is celebrated on October 18.
