Virgin Mary Bethlehem There is no historical evidence of the origins of this miraculous image that adorns the Basilica of Christ Births in Bethlehem, placed in a pilgrimage, on the right side of the south entrance of the Saint Cave of Birth. It is supposed to come from Russia, a gift from the Empress of the Russian Catherine, where according to tradition, she gave away her Tsar garments and jewels in order to "dress" her image with them.
