Our Lady Deomeni The icon of Our Lady Deomeni located in the capital city of Lithuania Vilnius, is the most popular pilgrimage of Eastern Europe. The story of Our Lady of Dawn, also known as Our Lady Ostra Brama, begins in 1386, the year of the marriage of the Prince of Lithuania Jagiell to Polish Princess Jadwiga. The union of the two brought Christianity into the lives of the Lithuanians as an official religion and a unification of the two nations into a Commonwealth. The Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth was a federal monarchy-democracy, designed by the King of Poland and the Grand Duke of Lithuania, in which he led an elected monarch. The event strengthened the courage and faith of the people of Vilnius in Our Lady.
