Hagia Sophia Saint Sophia, with her three Holy daughters, Saint Elpida, Saint Pisti and Saint Agapi are a symbol of faith and courage for the Church. They lived during Hadrian's empire (117 AD – 138 AD), descended from a wealthy Italian noble family. Hadrian tried with good at first and then with incredible violence to make them deny their faith in Christ. He killed one daughter after another after horrific torture, 12-year-old Faith, ten-year-old Hope and nine-year-old Agapi. They let their mother bury them to endure her torture alive. As soon as she buried her daughters she surrendered her spirit to the Lord.
