Saint Damianos Born in Agrafa, in the village of Myrichovo, in 1510 AD, Saint Damianos the Monk, loved the solitary life and moved to Mount Athos, to the Filotheou Monastery. He practiced next to Dometius for three years, where he is said to have been credited with hearing the voice of God. He preached the word of God in the area of Olympus, Larissa and Kissavos and ended up in Agrafa, where he founded the monastery of Virgin Mary Pelekiti. He is accused of being a traitor and is forced to leave and go to Kissavos where he builds another monastery, that of Saint John the Forerunner. He was captured by the Turks and put to death after horrific torture. He received the crown of martyrdom in 1568 AD.
