Saint Luke Syrian by origin with Greek nationality, Saint Luke, also known as Luke the Evangelist, was a doctor by profession and an excellent painter. He left the earthly life at the age of 80, according to some peacefully, according to others with a martyr's death, around 84 AD. His remains were transferred to Constantinople, in the church of the Holy Apostles. His memory is celebrated on October 18.
