Saint Nektarios A "modern" Saint, Saint Nektarios or Nektarios of Pentapolis or Nektarios of Aegina was born in 1846 in Thrace to parents from a well-known Byzantine family. He was a popular shepherd and educator, while according to testimonies he performed miracles while he was still alive. His writing has been recognized for its style and spirituality by his contemporaries in the University community.
