Saint Nikolaos Image inspired by the icon of the Saint located in Kissamos Monastery in Crete (17th century). Saint Nikolaos was the only son of a wealthy, religious family in Lycia. After his parents died he distributed all his fortune to the poor. He became known for his charity work, despite his efforts to hide it. During his ascetic life God’s voice commanded him to live with humans, for only so would His name be glorified. He was elected Archbishop of Myron, Lycia, where he served his flock as a true shepherd. During the empire of Diocletian and Maximilian, he taught people the power of the Lord. He saved three people from death, twice. Kind, honest, righteous has been a real angel to humans. He left the worlds in 343 C.E. 6 December.
