Saint Sergios Loyal Sergios, second son of devout Boyars, was born in 1314 in the hegemony of Rostov and was baptized Bartholomew. At the age of 7, a holy monk blessed him and prophesied that he would become a guide to Christian Faith for many. At the age of 23 he received the solitary shape and was named Sergios. It is said that during his monastic test he reconciled with a bear who visited him daily to find some food. IN 1354 he was ordained a priest and enthroned abbot. At the praise of the ecumenical patriarch Saint Philotheus Red he founded a Commune. Encouraged by Metropolitan Moscow Alexio he took responsibility for communal life. His monastery, known as the laura of the Holy Trinity of Zagorsk, remains to this day the center of the church life and reverence of the Russians.
