Saints Anargyri Many saints have the nickname Saints Anargyri, because many saints had studied medicine and offered their services to all those who needed it, without money, offering from their own money and not only to Christians. The two most famous pairs of Saint-physicians are the brothers Cosmas and Damianos. Our church celebrates Cosmas and Damian, the Romans on July 1st and Cosmas and Damianus the Asians whom we celebrate on November 1st. Saints Anargyri, the Romans, brothers, known throughout Rome for their charity and selfless giving to the poor and the rich. They were murdered by fellow craftsmen out of envy. Cosmas and Damian, the Asians lived by teaching the word of God and offering their medical advice. They rest in peace.
