According to Christian tradition, the Virgin Mary of Fairythia in the Holy Monastery of Vatopedi was rescued thanks to the miraculous intervention of the specific image of the Virgin Mary, when she was threatened by pirates in the early 14th century. The icon of the Virgin is kept in the chapel of the Temple where the Monks keep an impervious canteen and sing a request daily.
