Virgin Mary Saint Zoni The only sacred relic that refers to the living presence of the Virgin, the Saint Zoni, is preserved (part of it) in the Holy Monastery of Vatopedi, on Mount Athos. The Holy Belt woven by the Mother of God herself from camel hair. After her departure, Saint Zoni was reverently guarded by two women, poor and pious, who cared for the Virgin. The emperor Arcadios (395-408 AD) took it to Constantinople and deposited it in a reliquary which he named "Saint Soron". Empress Pulcheria, daughter of Arcadius, built a temple to guard the belt, which she herself decorated with gold thread. Over the years, the belt was cut up and parts of it were transferred to various temples in the City. After the fall, a single part of the belt reached the Holy Monastery of Vatopedi without knowing who or who delivered it. According to tradition, John V. Katakouzenos surrendered it in 1354, and after resigning his office he became a Monk.
